BANESHWAR SINGH<\/strong> completed his PhD from West Virginia University, Morgantown in 2011, under the supervision of Dr. Jeffrey Wells. His PhD work focused on molecular systematic and evolution of blow flies (Diptera: Calliphoridae). As a post-doctoral associate in Drs. Jeff Tomberlin\u2019s and Aaron Tarone\u2019s laboratories, he worked on microbial succession in response to blow fly colonization of human cadavers. More specifically, his work at Texas A&amp;M University focused on:\u00a0 1) Identification of change in microbial community structure with time on human cadavers using 454 sequence data of 16S ribosomal RNA gene, 2) Identification of chemicals used in quorum sensing by microbial communities on carrions and its role in blow fly colonization, and 3) Preparation of knock-out gene libraries of targeted microbial fauna\u2019s and its sequencing. These works will help in the development of novel method for estimation of post-mortem interval. Dr. Singh accepted an Assistant Professors position in the Department of Forensic Sciences at Virginia Commonwealth University.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DR.
